Angelica pubescens Maximovicz is not a synonym of Angelica sinensis Diels (syn. Angelica polymorpha Maximowicz var. sinensis Oliver) in China. Angelica pubescens Maximovicz is endemic to Japan and Angelica sinensis Diels is native to China. However some business people describe that Angelica pubescens Maximovicz is a synonym of Angelica sinensis Diels which has been used as a kind of traditional Chinese medicine during past thousands of years. This is not right. Commercial advertisement using such a false description is illegal and should be strictly prohibited and punished by applicable medical law, comsumer protection laws or other relating laws in each jurisdiction. Also any part of patents based on such a false identification of species may be regarded as invalid. |
